Softball Recap: Central Magnet Takes a Loss

Central Magnet pushed their score to nine the last time they played Franklin County, but on Thursday they couldn't quite do it again. Central Magnet fell just short of the Franklin County Rebels by a score of 1-0. The match marked the first time this year in which Central Magnet was not able to get on the board.

Rachel Plondke was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Central Magnet saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Croasdaile, who went 2-for-4 with one double. That double marked the first that Croasdaile hit this season.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Franklin County, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Magnet will host Blackman on Monday. Blackman has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something Central Magnet will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Franklin County, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Marshall County at 6:00 p.m. Marshall County knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Franklin County likes a good challenge.
