Softball Game Preview: Midway Raiders vs. Cleveland Rams

The Midway Raiders will square off against the Cleveland Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

After dropping their season opener at home, Cleveland is headed out to face a Raiders team ready to give their home crowd a win. Midway fell just short of Scotland by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Midway saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mollie Bass, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Cleveland had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Heritage with a sharp 8-1 victory on Wednesday.

Karsyn Hudacky was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Jazz Linares was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Avery Morgan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
