Basketball Recap: Mcdonogh Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Maurice Costley and Jeff Exinor

After flying high against La Plata last Wednesday, McDonogh came back down to earth. The McDonogh Eagles took a 55-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

McDonogh's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jeff Exinor, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, and Maurice Costley, who posted 12 points and three steals. Those 16 points gave Exinor a new career-high. Nick Abrams Ii also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first boards of the season.

McDonogh's record now sits at 13-8. As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season.

McDonogh wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-57 defeat against Gilman on the 3rd. As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-52 loss against Glenelg Country on the 3rd.
