Volleyball Recap: Tanque Verde Gets the Win

Tanque Verde took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Sahuaro, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Cougars on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since August 30th.

Sophia Cheney paced Tanque Verde's offense, picking up six kills. Cheney got some help from Cayla Vimmerstedt and her ten assists. Alexia Adams controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Tanque Verde's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Sahuaro, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Coincidentally, Tanque Verde and Sahuaro will both be playing Salpointe Catholic the next time they take the court. The Cougars will head out to face the Lancers at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Hawks will play them later in the day, at 4:30 p.m.
