Basketball Recap: Columbus Comes Up Short

Columbus lost against Winfield-Mt. Union back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Columbus Wildcats had to suffer through a 63-34 loss at the hands of the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves.

Columbus' loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Winfield-Mt. Union, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pekin at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. As for Winfield-Mt. Union, they will welcome West Burlington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Burlington knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 games -- so hopefully Winfield-Mt. Union likes a good challenge.
