Recap: Jefferson City Jays vs. McDonald County Mustangs
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Jefferson City Jays had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They skirted past the Mustangs 31-28. That's two games straight that Jefferson City has won by exactly three points.
Jefferson City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bradarious Lewis, who rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Lewis' longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Kendrick Johnson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 145 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The win was the fifth in a row for Jefferson City, bringing their record for this year to 9-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.8 points per game. As for McDonald County, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.
Jefferson City will head out on the road to face off against Kearney at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kearney will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. McDonald County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
