Basketball Recap: Ogallala Skates Past Valentine with Ease

There's no place like home for Ogallala, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They breezed by Valentine to the tune of 68-33 on Saturday. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Leading Ogallala to victory were Shaydyn Rasby and Laney Caskey. Rasby went 8 of 15 on her way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Caskey went 6 for 8 en route to 12 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Story Rasby was another key player, putting up ten points.

Ogallala smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Valentine saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Paige Sprenger posted 20 points and three steals. That was a full 60.6% of Valentine's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Olena Marie Eileen Felton also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Ogallala's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Valentine, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Ogallala will welcome Scottsbluff at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ogallala is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season. As for Valentine, they will challenge Stuart at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
