Recap: Bauxite Miners vs. Mayflower Eagles
The Bauxite Miners fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 43-28 victory over Mayflower on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Bauxite also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Bauxite's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chelton Murdock, who rushed for 171 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Murdock was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Walt Duncan, who rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Bauxite is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Mayflower, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-3.
Bauxite will head out on the road to face off against Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mayflower, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Harmony Grove at 7:00 p.m. Harmony Grove will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
