Basketball Recap: Lexi Scott and Azaria Finn Secure Win for Evansville North

Evansville North won the last time they faced Boonville and things went their way on Saturday too. The stars were shining brightly for the Evansville North Huskies in a 64-50 win over the Boonville Pioneers. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Pioneers are ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Evansville North to victory were Azaria Finn and Lexi Scott. Finn went 7 of 15 on her way to 18 points, while Scott posted ten points and seven assists. That's the most points Finn has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Watkins, who had nine points and five rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Evansville North was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive matches.

The victory got Evansville North back to even at 5-5. As for Boonville, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Evansville North didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-38 win against Mooresville on the 26th. As for Boonville, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Evansville Christian at 1:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
