Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Ramblers vs. Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering Panthers

The Eastern Ramblers will head out on the road to face off against the Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Eastern's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Dunbar with a sharp 15-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Ramblers have posted against the Crimson Tide since May 8, 2017.

William Weedon was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. That hit marked the first that he got this season.

In other batting news, Aaron Williams was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Wesley Hanks was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 25-3 to Jackson-Reed on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

The win made it two in a row for Eastern and bumps their season record up to 4-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Eastern took their win against Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
