Softball Recap: Kettering Captains vs. Milford Mavericks

Kettering extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-14 in the process. They lost 17-1 to the Milford Mavericks. If the Captains were looking for revenge after losing 7-4 to the Mavericks when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Milford, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

For Milford's part, Tori Russell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Russell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Marisa Merz was incredible, firing off three home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high.
