Softball Recap: Jackson Comes Up Short

Jackson was the 8-5 winner over Waverly when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Ironman/Ironladies fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. Ironman/Ironladies fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Tigers since Thursday.

Serenity Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brynlee Smalley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Jackson's loss dropped their record down to 20-7. As for Waverly, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-14.

Jackson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Waverly, they have already played their next contest, a 5-3 victory against South Point on the 18th.
