Baseball Recap: Veritas Academy Takes a Loss

Veritas Academy came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 17-9 to the Lutheran Mustangs. The loss continues a trend for Veritas Academy in their matchups with Lutheran: they've now lost five in a row.

Veritas Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Layne, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, Layne posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

Veritas Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Lutheran, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.

Coming up, Veritas Academy will square off against Bracken Christian at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lutheran, they will head out on the road to take on San Marcos Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
