Basketball Game Preview: Spruce Mountain Phoenix vs. Oceanside Mariners

The Spruce Mountain Phoenix will take on the Oceanside Mariners at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, Spruce Mountain was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 40-39 to Dirigo. The match marked the Phoenix's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Oceanside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 62-52 to Hampden, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Spruce Mountain's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points over those games. As for Oceanside, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Spruce Mountain was dealt a bruising 78-38 defeat at the hands of Oceanside in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Spruce Mountain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
