Softball Recap: Exeter Takes a Loss

Exeter was the 11-1 winner over Washington Union when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Monarchs might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to the Panthers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Monarchs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chloe Sparrow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Exeter saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Avelar, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base.

Exeter's defeat dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Washington Union, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-15.

Exeter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Washington Union, they will challenge Minarets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
