Basketball Game Preview: Newport Grizzlies vs. Shadle Park Highlanders

The Newport Grizzlies and the Shadle Park Highlanders will round out the year against one another at at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Newport will bounce into Saturday's match after beating Chewelah, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Newport really took it to Chewelah for the full four quarters, racking up a 38-11 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Grizzlies as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, after only 25 points in their last game, Shadle Park made sure to put some points up on the board against Riverside on Friday. Shadle Park claimed a resounding 66-32 victory over Riverside. The contest marked the Highlanders' most dominant win of the season so far.

Shadle Park's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Newport, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Newport came up short against Shadle Park when the teams last played back in December of 2019, falling 49-39. Can Newport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
