Basketball Recap: Lakewood Skates Past Sand Creek with Ease + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakewood). They claimed a resounding 64-35 win over the Sand Creek Scorpions. The Tigers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since December 21, 2024 (when they won 57-11).

Leading Lakewood to victory were Saylor Slaughter and Iben Last. Slaughter posted 14 points along with eight assists and four steals, while Last earned 13 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Those eight assists gave Slaughter a new career-high. Eden Klinger was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Lakewood was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Lakewood back to even at 2-2. As for Sand Creek, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Lakewood and D'Evelyn will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. The Jaguars' defense has only allowed 27.8 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. Sand Creek has already played their next game (against Summit), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
