Football Recap: Baker Takes Down Ranked Fairhope + How To Watch

Baker faced Fairhope in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Hornets put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 35-10 victory. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Baker's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tate Graham, who threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt. Graham's passing game has become a key predictor of the Hornets' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Khatori Marion also helped with two TDs in total.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Baker proved: they limited Fairhope to a paltry 2.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least ten total tackles, Myles Johnson stood above the rest. He picked up 2.5 sacks and made ten total tackles. Baker's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.1.

Baker didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gacorian Smith and Tristan Robinson. Johnson was another major factor on D, picking up 2.5 sacks and making ten total tackles.

Despite the loss, Fairhope still got an impressive performance from Andres Hunt, who picked up 105 receiving yards and one score.

Baker's record is now 7-2. As for Fairhope, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Baker will welcome Vigor at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves' defense has only allowed 10.6 points per game this season, so the Hornets' offense will have their work cut out for them. Fairhope does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
