Baseball Recap: Wellborn Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Wellborn, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Weaver Bearcats on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jackson Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Wellborn is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-13 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tanner Ingram, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Zack Pressley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Wellborn's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Weaver, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-20 record this season.

Wellborn will square off against Gaston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Weaver, they will face off against Jacksonville Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
