Football Recap: Arlington Heights' Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Arlington Heights extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 5-0. They took down the Chisholm Trail Rangers 32-14. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Yellowjackets also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Arlington Heights got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carmelo Carter out in front who rushed for 133 yards and one score while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 94 yards and one touchdown. Another rusher making a difference was Carson James, who rushed for 124 yards and a pair of TDs.

Arlington Heights didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Chisholm Trail to a completion percentage of just 35.3%. The team can thank Diesel Payne for the heroic effort on defense: he. Arlington Heights hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.42 or higher in three consecutive games.

Arlington Heights' defense didn't let Keaton Rose., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Chisholm Trail's QB won't forget Isaiah Schuman anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Schuman also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten. Carter James was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

As for Chisholm Trail, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while Arlington Heights is ranked 198th).

Several Rangers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Rodriguez, who rushed for 107 yards and one score.
