Basketball Recap: Silas Takes a Loss

Silas easily dispatched Capital last Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Silas Rams fell just short of the Lakes Lancers by a score of 38-35 on Friday. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Rams, who fell 51-49 when the teams last met back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Silas lost, don't look at Carmayla Jackson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 25 boards. Jackson has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordin Palu-Pinkett, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Silas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Samara Oliver continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lakes, putting up 21 points along with six boards and six steals.

Silas dropped their record down to 6-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Lakes, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Silas wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-38 win against Decatur on the 18th. As for Lakes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-33 victory against Capital on the 21st.
