The Cornerstone Christian Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Stanton Buffaloes at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cornerstone Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Stanton will be coming in after a defeat.
On Thursday, Cornerstone Christian didn't have too much trouble with LBJ Austin as they won 37-21.
Jaylen McKane was his usual excellent self, rushing for 119 yards and one score, while also picking up 40 receiving yards and one touchdown. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.
Cornerstone Christian's run defense was locked in: LBJ Austin could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Henry Guzman for the heroic effort on defense: he. Cornerstone Christian didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.8.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of McKane, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Stanton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 21-17 to Ballinger.
Cornerstone Christian will have to contain Luis Anaya as he made an impact in Stanton's last game. He rushed for 218 yards and a pair of TDs. Anaya is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Stanton also got help from Vayden Pastrana, who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.

Cornerstone Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Stanton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Cornerstone Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 156.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Stanton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 154.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
