Softball Preview: Desert Pines Jaguars vs. Legacy Longhorns

Desert Pines is on a three-game streak of home losses, Legacy a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Desert Pines Jaguars will take on the Legacy Longhorns at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Desert Pines fell victim to Rancho and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They suffered a rough 17-0 defeat at the hands of the Rams. The shutout was out of character for Desert Pines seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Meanwhile, in what's become a running theme this season, Legacy gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Durango a 15-0 shutout. The victory was just what Legacy needed coming off of a 9-3 loss in their prior matchup.

Nadia Armstrong was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Armstrong was also big at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.

In other batting news, Legacy got a massive performance out of Madison Castellon, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Aofia Noa was another key contributor, going 2-for-2 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Desert Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Legacy, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

Desert Pines might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Legacy when the teams last played back in April of 2022.
