            Lakewood hasn't had much luck against Meridian recently, but that could start to change  on Saturday. The Lakewood Cougars will be playing at home against the Meridian Trojans  at 7:15  p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when  Lakewood took on Burlington-Edison on Monday. Lakewood had to suffer through a   71-42 loss at the hands of Burlington-Edison. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings  (they are ranked 157th, while the Tigers are ranked 17th).

Despite their  defeat, Lakewood saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays.  Karly Stewart, who  posted eight points and four  steals, was perhaps the best of all. Stewart has been hot, having  posted three or more  steals the last six times she's  played.  Anna Perez was another key player,  putting up nine  points.
 Even though they lost, Lakewood  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 16  offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least eight  offensive boards in 12 consecutive  contests.
 Meanwhile, Meridian took a  blow against Lynden on Tuesday, falling  69-20. The  match marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring  game so far this season.
 Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Meridian, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
