Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Warren's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

The Warren Warriors got the win against the Churchill Chargers on Saturday by a conclusive 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Levi Hartley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kevin Gutierrez was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Casias, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Gutierrez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Warren kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The Warriors are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Warren is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Churchill, they moved to 8-13 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Warren will head out to challenge Harlan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Hawks have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Churchill, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Johnson at 4:45 p.m. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
