Recap: Monticello Mustangs vs. Fluvanna County Flying Flucos
The Monticello Mustangs had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They skirted past Fluvanna County 24-22. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Monticello also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Among those leading the charge was Ezekiel Pour, who rushed for 150 yards.
Monticello has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Fluvanna County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will face off against Spotswood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Spotswood is on a five-game streak of home wins, Monticello a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. As for Fluvanna County, they will head out on the road to face off against Liberty Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Liberty Christian's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
