Basketball Recap: San Juan Hills Comes Up Short

If San Juan Hills was riding high fresh off their 60-38 takedown of El Camino on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Stallions were outmatched by the Mater Dei Monarchs and fell 86-53. The Stallions haven't had much luck with the Monarchs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

San Juan Hills' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Lee, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 13 points. Another player making a difference was Rocco Jensen, who posted 21 points and five boards.

Luke Barnett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mater Dei, putting up 32 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Those four blocks gave Barnett a new career-high. Richie Ramirez was another key player, scoring 25 points and six assists.

San Juan Hills' loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Mater Dei, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3.

San Juan Hills wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-20 win against Varsity Opponent on the 13th. As for Mater Dei, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-71 victory against San Clemente on the 12th.
