Recap: Northside Patriots vs. Northgate Vikings

The Northside Patriots pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northgate. While losing is never fun, Northside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Northgate is ranked 119th).

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was ZaKyra Mcgee, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mcgee pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zariah Davis, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

It was another big night for DeAsia Stinson, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and six steals for Northgate. Stinson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Randria Wilcher was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Northside has fallen quite a ways from their 21-7 record last season and are now at 4-10. As for Northgate, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Northside won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Russell County at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th. As for Northgate, they will head out on the road to square off against Newnan at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newnan is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
