Football Recap: Aquinas Monarchs vs. Ponca Indians

Aquinas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 17-7 to the Ponca Indians. The Monarchs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Landon Pohl and Gregory Sisco certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Pohl rushed for 109 yards, while Sisco rushed for 40 yards.

Ponca's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caden Cleveland, who threw for 161 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 86 yards. Cleveland didn't just play on offense: he also made seven total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Pierce Ehlers was another key player, picking up 41 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Aquinas' defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Ponca, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
