Volleyball Recap: Darlington Takes a Loss

After flying high against Lakewood on Tuesday, Darlington came back down to earth. The Falcons fell just short of the South Florence Bruins by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Falcons have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

While Darlington ultimately came up short, they really made South Florence work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 31-29, 24-26, 21-25, 15-12.

Leading South Florence to victory were Hailey McManus and Baylor Gregg. McManus had 55 assists, while Gregg had 12 digs and four aces. What's more, McManus posted three kills, the most she's had over her last five contests.

Darlington's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for South Florence, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-12.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Darlington will square off against rival Hartsville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, South Florence is set to challenge their familiar foe Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
