Basketball Recap: Valley Falls Sets Scoring Season-High Against Atchison County

Valley Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. The contest between them and the Atchison County Tigers didn't end well, with the Valley Falls Dragons falling 60-43. One positive for the Dragons, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Kinzee Bauerle, who went 16 for 24 on her way to 39 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals for Atchison County. That makes it five consecutive games in which Bauerle has scored at least a third of Atchison County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kori Wagner, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 12 boards, and 12 assists.

Valley Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Atchison County, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley Falls will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on McLouth on January 3, 2025. Atchison County also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Atchison-Maur Hill-Mount Academy on January 3, 2025.
