While Taft didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-26), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Crockett Cougars on Thursday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Casyn Jefferson paced Taft's offense, picking up four kills. Jefferson got some help from Katie Pauley and her five assists.

Taft's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Crockett, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Taft has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Flour Bluff on the 21st. As for Crockett, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Manor on the 22nd.
