Brighton is a perfect 5-0 against Millington Central since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cardinals will head out to challenge the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. Brighton will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Brighton proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Munford 7-5.
Laney Lawson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aliya Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keegan Stepp, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Brighton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Millington Central and Covington, and Covington kept the tradition alive. The Trojans fell 8-5 to the Chargers on Tuesday.
Hayley Stevens was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Bell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Brighton pushed their record up to 10-6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Millington Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9-1 record this season.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brighton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393. However, it's not like Millington Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
