Softball Recap: Carbondale Victorious

Carbondale won the last time they faced Freeburg and things went their way on Friday too. The Terriers came out on top against the Midgets by a score of 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Terriers.

Lauren Lehman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Carbondale let Lilly Graham and Ella Karayiannis run wild. Graham scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4, while Karayiannis scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Graham has posted since back in March of 2024. Nadia Schauf also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Carbondale picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Freeburg, their loss ended an 18-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-4.

Carbondale has already played their next match, an 8-2 win against Centralia on the 1st. As for Freeburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-1 defeat against Waterloo on the 31st.
