Basketball Recap: Muncie Central Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Muncie Central can now relate to. They lost 60-36 to the Greenfield-Central Cougars on Friday. The Bearcats have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Despite the loss, Muncie Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jaxson Johnson went 6-for-11 on his way to 14 points. Lj Strange was another key player, putting up nine points.

Greenfield-Central had a senior duo take command as Braylon Mullins almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine boards and Michael Johnson shot 70% from the field to rack up 19 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last 22 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Freeman, who posted nine points along with five boards and three steals.

Muncie Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Greenfield-Central, their win was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-3.

Muncie Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Greenfield-Central, they have already played their next match, an 83-76 loss against Mt. Vernon on the 8th.
