Football Recap: Newton Tigers vs. Lake Hornets
Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 36-8 loss at the hands of the Lake Hornets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 24-12 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.
Newton's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newton will take on Bay Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bay Springs will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Newton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lake, they will face off against Morton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
