Western Pennsylvania [WPAC] recap Oct. 30, 2012

Berlin Brothersvalley extended the longest winning streak in Western Pennsylvania [WPAC] this week by beating Rockwood, 49-12. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

North Star made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,704 from 7,043. The improvement was the result of 36-24 victory over Blacklick Valley last week.

Brock Medva was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 214 yards on 23 carries as Shade topped the Vikings. Nash Walker also contributed to the rushing game with 110 yards on the ground.

Strasiser was the best wideout in the league this week as North Star topped Blacklick Valley. Strasiser tallied six receptions for 131 yards.

Dakota Gipe put up the best numbers through the air as Windber beat Conemaugh Valley. He finished with a total of 11 completions for 185 yards and three touchdowns. Gipe's favorite target this week was Matt Barkley, who caught seven passes for 103 yards.

5-foot-10 quarterback Chad Eisenhuth of Ferndale is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1089. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, the Panthers' Medva has rushed for 1507 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Strasiser. The North Star star has 33 catches for 500 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Berlin Brothersvalley takes on the Ramblers. At the moment, Doug Paul's team is in first, while Windber is in third.

There should be lots of points scored when the Mountaineers and Matt Grohal's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Berlin Brothersvalley comes in having scored 309 this season, while the Ramblers have scored 289. The Mountaineers scored 49 points last week as they bested the Rockets.
