Basketball Recap: Mobile Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Rico Prince and Hakeem Winston

Mobile Christian lost against Murphy back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mobile Christian Leopards lost to the Murphy Panthers on the road by a 60-46 margin. While losing is never fun, the Leopards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Panthers are ranked 50th).

Despite the defeat, Mobile Christian had strong showings from Hakeem Winston, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds, and Rico Prince, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Austin Delmore was another key player, putting up five points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mobile Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Cordairus Dixon was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds for Murphy. Dixon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryan Jackson, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Mobile Christian's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Murphy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Mobile Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-52 defeat against Faith Academy on the 13th. As for Murphy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-46 loss against Vigor on the 17th.
