Baseball Recap: Gateway Legacy Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Gateway Legacy Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Dominic Crusaders. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one run.

Raul Bracho was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, Isidro Santos made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Dario Mendez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Gateway Legacy Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Dominic struck out ten times.

Gateway Legacy Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for St. Dominic, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gateway Legacy Christian Academy will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Parkway West at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Dominic, they will venture away from home to face off against Marquette at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
