Soccer Game Preview: Hazleton Area vs. Berwick

Hazleton Area is 0-7 against Berwick since September of 2020 but things could change on Monday. The Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Hazleton Area will be strutting in after a win while Berwick will be coming in after a loss.

Hazleton Area's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Mount Carmel 5-0. Given Hazleton Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Mount Carmel are ranked 419th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Berwick's offense. They came up short against Crestwood on Thursday, falling 8-0. Berwick haven't had much luck with Crestwood recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Hazleton Area is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four contests. As for Berwick, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-1.
