Basketball Recap: Delran Bears vs. Holy Cross Lancers
Delran fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Holy Cross on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 57-50 to the Holy Cross Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Lancers are ranked 50th).
Holy Cross was led to victory by Emmanuel Doku and Joey Martino. Doku went 8-for-19 to rack up 17 points and six boards, while Martino posted 12 points and five steals. Doku's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Uche Onunkwo, who earned eight points and five rebounds.
Delran's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Holy Cross, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.
