Softball Game Preview: Harrisburg Hornets vs. Hoxie Mustangs

Harrisburg hasn't had much luck against Hoxie recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Harrisburg will face off against Hoxie at 4:30 p.m. Harrisburg is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Hoxie's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Harrisburg hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Harrisburg's pitcher stepped up to hand Marked Tree a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hornets considering their two-run performance the match before.

Camilla Spiegel was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Brilee Thomas also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, Hoxie didn't have quite enough to beat East Poinsett County on Monday and fell 11-10.

Harrisburg pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hoxie, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.

Harrisburg might still be hurting after the 18-3 loss they got from Hoxie when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can Harrisburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
