Basketball Recap: Christ Covenant Comes Up Short

Christ Covenant lost against New Bern Christian Academy on February 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Christ Covenant Spartans were beaten by New Bern Christian Academy 67-32. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while New Bern Christian Academy are ranked 211th).

New Bern Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Seth Nobles out in front who went 9-for-11 en route to 18 points and eight rebounds. Nobles is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 60% in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Micah Coghill, who posted 14 points along with six boards and five assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Christ Covenant and nudges their season record down to 12-14. As for New Bern Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 21 of their last 24 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Christ Covenant nor New Bern Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
