Pottsboro's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Van Alstyne Panthers 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted since February 10th.

Cayden Humphrey and Brady Wynn did most of the damage at the plate: Humphrey went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Wynn went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Wynn has posted since back in May of 2025. Tripp Watson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Pottsboro pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Van Alstyne, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-14 record.

Coming up, Pottsboro will square off against Tom Bean at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Van Alstyne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sanger at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
