Nicholas County hasn't had much luck against Lewis County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bluejackets will look to defend their home field against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Nicholas County turned things around against Robertson County on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Black Devils a 15-0 shutout. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bluejackets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Caroline Banks was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Watkins, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Nicholas County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lewis County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mason County 3-2.
Jerra Lucas spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kiya Noble, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Myla Clark was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Lewis County's win bumped their record up to 14-18. As for Nicholas County, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-20.
