Baseball Game Preview: Petaluma Trojans vs. Miramonte Matadors

The Petaluma Trojans will square off against the Miramonte Matadors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Petaluma is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Petaluma beat Livermore 4-1.

James Dole made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Dole was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, August Cuneo was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Dalton Deadman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Miramonte started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Alhambra. They fell 7-4 to the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Matadors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bulldogs since on Tuesday.

Petaluma pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Miramonte, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.
