Baseball Game Preview: Fenwick Friars vs. Aurora Central Catholic Chargers

Fenwick is a perfect 3-0 against Aurora Central Catholic since May of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Friars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 11:00 a.m. Fenwick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Fenwick came up short against Chicago Hope Academy and fell 9-6.

Fenwick got a good showing from Jeremy Munoz, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Munoz has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, JJ Obaldo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Fenwick is 5-2 when Obaldo posts two or more runs, but 10-12-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Andrew Henderson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Aurora Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fenwick.

Brodie Curry made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Marcos Pena also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Fenwick's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-14-1. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they now have a losing record of 14-15.

Fenwick was able to grind out a solid win over Aurora Central Catholic when the teams last played on Thursday, winning 8-5. Do the Friars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
