Lathrop has gone 8-2 against Wasilla recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Malemutes will face off against the Warriors at 3:45 p.m. Neither Lathrop nor Wasilla posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Lathrop managed to slip by Service the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Malemutes came up short against the Cougars on Thursday, falling 13-1. The Malemutes' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Lathrop saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Himes, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Quinnlyn Samson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Wasilla's offense. They lost 8-0 to Colony on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.

Wasilla's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-1. As for Lathrop, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lathrop hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Wasilla struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Lathrop skirted past Wasilla 6-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Malemutes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
