Basketball Recap: Creekside Takes a Loss

Creekside and West Port squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Creekside had to settle for second. They took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Port Wolf Pack. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 61-51 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2020.

Despite the loss, Creekside still got an impressive performance from Brie McCoy, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. McCoy continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cami Waters, who posted five points and four steals.

Calise Smith had a dynamite game for West Port, going 9-for-13 on her way to 22 points and six boards. What's more, Smith also posted a 69% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in January of 2024. Rayniah Gould was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Creekside's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for West Port, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Creekside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Port, they will square off against Timber Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Timber Creek will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something West Port surely won't give up without a fight.
