Baseball Game Preview: Peninsula Panthers vs. Mary Star of the Sea Stars

The Peninsula Panthers are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Mary Star of the Sea Stars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Peninsula will be strutting in after a victory while Mary Star of the Sea will be coming in after a loss.

Peninsula saw some tournament action on Friday. They came out on top against Bishop Montgomery by a score of 8-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Kent Kraemer looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Sam Fujii was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Brenden Jarrard was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Peninsula always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Montgomery only posted an OBP of .312.

Meanwhile, Mary Star of the Sea fell victim to South and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 10-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Stars in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost three in a row.

Mary Star of the Sea's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Peninsula, their record is now 2-0.

Peninsula came up short against Mary Star of the Sea in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, falling 7-3. Can Peninsula avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
